Similar to 7 Card Stud, 5 Card Stud offers nearly the same game only with less cards being dealt.
Players must make the best 5-card hand with the cards they are dealt over 4 rounds.
The game begins with a small ante coming from each player at the table. After that, each player is dealt one card face down, and one card face up.
Actual betting begins with a forced bet (also known as the bring in) by whichever player has the highest card up. Play then moves in a clockwise direction, with players either calling the bring, raising, or folding. Betting rounds all have a limit of three re-raises
Players still in the hand are dealt another card face up, and then another round of betting commences with the player who has the best cards face up.
A third up card is then dealt followed by another round of betting.
A final up card is dealt, which is followed by the final round of betting. Once that is complete, there is the showdown to see who has the best hand.
In the end, 5 Card Stud can thus be summarized as having 1 down, 4 up.
